Recording

Recording a window

Record one app window on its own, and resize it to a standard size first.

  1. Open the recorder bar and choose Window.
  2. Pick the window from the menu. Each entry shows the app's icon and the window's title. Windows on the current desktop come first, then those On other desktops.
  3. Click Record.

Only that window is recorded, without its shadow and without anything that passes in front of it. Small windows, untitled panels and Screen Motion's own windows aren't listed. If a window is missing, choose Refresh List.

Resize the window before recording

With Window chosen, the gear menu has Resize Window. It sets the window to an exact size so your video has clean proportions:

  • 1280 × 720, 1920 × 1080, 2560 × 1440
  • 4:3: 1024 × 768, 1440 × 1080
  • 9:16: 405 × 720, 540 × 960
  • 16:10: 1280 × 800, 1440 × 900
  • Square: 800 × 800, 1080 × 1080

Sizes larger than your screen are greyed out. Resizing another app's window needs Accessibility access. Some windows have a fixed size and can't be resized.
