Native screen recording for Mac
Record your screen and camera, add cinematic zooms and smooth animations, and create professional-looking videos in minutes.
Requires macOS 15 or later
Automatic zoom
Screen Motion remembers where you clicked and moves the camera there for you. Keep the zooms it suggests, drag them on the timeline, or add your own.
The whole frame moves in, and follows the cursor while it is there.
It follows your clicks. The pointer is recorded as data, not pixels, so zooms land exactly where the action was.
Two ways to look closer. Move the whole camera in, or hold a glass over the detail and keep the rest in view.
Yours to edit. Every zoom is a block on the timeline. Stretch it, move it, change its depth, or delete it.
Formats and layouts
Open on camera to set the scene, split the frame while you explain, tuck into a corner while you click, or step in front of the screen with your room cut away. Layouts sit on the timeline and the moves between them animate on their own, and the same video reshapes for wide, square or vertical.

Layouts in this video
Camera overlay
Layouts that fit the shape. Split sits side by side when wide, shares the frame in a square, and stacks your screen over your camera in a reel, with the screen following your pointer.
Transitions with depth. Fade, slide and zoom, or a 3D flip, tumble or cube between layouts.
A camera that behaves. Face tracking keeps you centred, and the background behind you can be cut away on your Mac.
Cursor and motion
Your pointer is redrawn from scratch for every frame. Move your mouse over the stage: the thin line is what you did, the amber line is what your viewers see.
Smoothed paths. Jitter and overshoot are taken out, and the cursor glides between the places you meant to go.
Sixteen cursor styles. Classic arrows, minimal dots and rings, or bright stickers, at any size.
Clicks you can see and hear. Ripples, rings and sparks, a press, bounce or tilt, and an optional click sound.
Style
Put the recording on a backdrop, round its corners and lift it off the page. Try the controls, they are the ones in the app.
Wallpaper
More than 100 wallpapers are built in, 22 of them moving. Or use a gradient, a solid colour, or your own image.
Captions
Screen Motion writes captions from your voice and lights up each word as you say it. Arabic and right-to-left text are first-class, not an afterthought.
Blur and highlight
Blur an email, a key or a customer's name after you have recorded, or dim everything else so one part of the screen stands out. Both stay on the part you chose through every zoom, with corners as round as you like.
Unreadable in every frame, at any zoom. It starts and stops in an instant, so nothing shows while it comes on.
Everything else dims, so viewers know where to look. It eases in and out, and several can light up at once.

Fast moves pick up a natural blur, the way a camera would film them.
The keys you press appear in the video, so viewers can follow along.
Keyboard and room noise turned down, on your Mac. Add a voiceover or background music afterwards.
MP4 up to 4K, or a GIF. The preview and the export share one renderer, so what you see is what you get.

Your talking points float beside the recording and never appear in it.
Natural, warm, cool, vivid or mono. Your iPhone works as the camera too.
Save a look once and every video you make afterwards matches it.
Every editor action is one search away, with shortcuts for the ones you use most.

Made for Mac
Screen Motion is made for the Mac and nothing else. It records with ScreenCaptureKit, draws every frame with Metal and writes captions with Apple's own speech recognition, so it is quick, light and familiar from the first click.
Privacy
Screen Motion has no cloud to upload to. Recording, captions, voice cleanup, camera cutout and export all run on your own machine.

It records your screen, and separately records where your pointer was and what you clicked. From that it builds the video: it zooms toward your clicks, redraws a smooth cursor, puts the recording on a background and adds your camera and captions. You can change every one of those decisions in the editor before you export.
Screen Motion needs macOS 15 or later. It is a native app that renders with Metal, and it is at its best on Apple silicon.
No. Screen Motion is built for Mac only, on Apple's own capture and graphics frameworks.
Yes, as a beta. Open a Screen Studio project in Screen Motion, or drop it on the home screen, and it becomes a Screen Motion project with its recording, pointer, cuts and zooms. Backgrounds, masks and other styling are not brought across yet, and the original project is left untouched. Screen Motion is not affiliated with Screen Studio.
No. Recordings are saved on your Mac, and captions, voice cleanup and camera effects are processed there too. See the privacy policy for the details.
Yes. Recording and editing are free, so you can see exactly what your video will look like. Exporting needs a plan, so try everything first and buy only when you are happy with the result.
A subscription includes every update for as long as it runs. The Lifetime plan is a single payment: it includes every version released in the year after you buy, and those versions keep working for good. To move to a later version after that, you can renew.
Yes. Students and educators get 40% off a Lifetime licence, or off the first year of a yearly subscription. Email us proof that you study or teach, such as a photo of your ID card, and we send you a code. Here is how.
